My Book Addiction

My Book Haul From This Weekend

The hubs took me book shopping this weekend 🙂

There are few things that make me as happy as a trip to a used bookstore. I feel like I’ve won the lottery or something every time I find a good deal, and let me tell you….I found good deals this weekend.
Now…I still buy new releases at our local indie because I like supporting the authors I get to know on Twitter & Facebook, but the odds that I will lay down serious dough for a Dan Brown novel, (Davinci Code, Angels & Demons) are slim. Why? Because he’s sold a gazillion books and watched them turn into movies
I’d rather give my hard-earned money to a lesser known struggling or debut author. It just makes me feel good.
So does being surrounded by stacks of books 🙂
After bringing home another 24 titles, I think it’s safe to say that when our girls are grown and gone, someone’s bedroom will become a library.
After this trip I almost completed my Jennifer Crusie collection, picked up The Davinci Code & Angels & Demons (for 15 cents each, might I add), and I found a hardback copy of American Gods by Neil Gaiman that I’ve been eyeing for a while. I also snagged The Secret Life Of Bees, Wings, My Sister’s Keeper, The Time Traveler’s Wife, and my first Sherrilyn Kenyon book (she’s a fellow Nashvillian – had to support). On top of that I managed to find some books on the craft of writing that looked great and travel books that will help with the research on my WIP.
Are you a book addict? Have a “library” or an insane stack of books in your house? If so, please link to a pic 🙂 Tell me what your weakness is when it comes to book buying.
Oh!!! And I have a new blog schedule that begins THIS WEEK. I’ll be blogging here, at A Day In The Life Of An Aspiring Author, on MWF, and over at The Writer’s Resource Site on T/Th. I needed to do this in order to have more time to devote to my WIP.
Thanks Everyone!!!!!!!

  1. Wow, good haul! And I love how you support indie pub and fellow writers who are not Dan Brown or James Patterson. Very nice of you!

Btw, I have a blog award for you! So come by and get it 🙂

  2. Wow! You sure got a load to carry home.

We have several book shelves full and stacks of books are always on or around our desks in the home office.

I have a weakness for history books and historical fiction. Love browsing the bargin bins.

  3. Oh my. I love my Kindle, but book buying has become such an impulsive thing, I really have to be careful. It's so easy to hit the buy now button on six or seven books without thinking about the money I'm laying down.

This is not to say I don't love supporting authors–I do–but I'm a girl on a tight budget. *sigh*

Saturday I went to a local used book store and picked up two Jane Austens. The owner knows me and keeps an eye out for interesting Austen volumes, so that was fun–and it only cost $5.25 total. Excellent!
