Interview with Romance Author Jessica Lemmon + Giveaway

I‘m honored to welcome debut author, Jessica Lemmon, (and her hero Shane August) to the blog today for a little Q & A and a book giveaway. NOTE:  FEEL FREE TO ASK SHANE ANY QUESTION AT ALL 😉 He’ll answer in the comments!

And make sure you scroll down and check out the entire interview because I asked Shane a question myself. Plus, if you leave a comment, you are automatically entered to win one of two copies of Tempting the Billionaire.

First off, let me tell you a little about the book.

Here’s an Amazon blurb:
BUSINESS OR PLEASURE?

Crickitt Day needs a job . . . any job. After her husband walks out on her, she’s determined to re-build her life and establish a new career. When swoon-worthy billionaire Shane August hires her as his assistant, she jumps at the chance to prove herself. Despite her growing attraction to her boss, she vows to keep things strictly professional. No flirting. No kissing. Definitely no falling in love…

Shane August is all business, all the time. He’s a self-made man who’s poured his heart and soul into his company, and he’d never allow himself to get involved with an employee. Then he hires sweet, sexy Crickitt-and he can’t keep his mind or his hands off her. But no matter how much he wants Crickitt, Shane fears that painful secrets from his past will always come between them. With fate working against them, can these two lonely hearts learn that sometimes mixing business with pleasure is the perfect merger?

I fell in love with these characters. So much so, that I found myself twisted into knots for them! You know when you find yourself texting a friend about every little shocking thing that you’ve got a great read. This was me.

What??!!! He said that?!! I can’t believe it. I hate him. No, wait. Oh my God, I love him so much. Holy crap, I wanna punch him. Nope. I wanna kiss him. I’m. Dying.

THAT’s how you know it’s a good book. You can’t stop reading.

Okay Jess. Where did the idea for Tempting come from?

JL: It all started when I was working for a billionaire…oh, wait, that’s not true. 😉 The real story is that one day I forgot to wear my wedding band. I pictured my heroine Crickitt in a flash: recently divorced, crying in a bar. All that was left was adding a swoon-worthy hero who couldn’t stop himself from approaching. Enter Shane August, the first wealthy hero I’d ever written.

Ahh, Shane. He’s pretty divine, not to mention the billionaire status that is just icing on the man cake, but you kept him grounded and real, which made me love him that much more. He’s an Alpha male with a few twists in the typical profile. What inspired you to design his character that way?

JL: Icing on the man cake – haaa! My favorite kinds of romance are the ones where the hero is undeniably kind. (Sarah Mayberry does this really well.) I love flawed, but I also love kind. When it came to Shane, I went with my gut and wrote a hero who appealed to me. I am surrounded by good men–men who love their wives, their children, give to their churches. That type of hero is present in my everyday life so I wanted to put him on paper.

And you did it so perfectly! Now, since I’m a writer, you know I have to ask the big question. Pants or plot?

JL: Pants, most definitely. Though I did write Shane’s painful past before I even named him.

Oh. The past. *poor baby* This question is for Shane 🙂 If you could change anything about your story, what would it be?

SA: Ahh, Charissa, my Tennessee girl! How are you, darling? The right answer to your question is there’s nothing I would change or it wouldn’t have ended the way it did, right? But the secret truth (without giving too much of the book away) is that I would have loved for my mom to meet Crickitt. She would have adored her.
*OMG* *SOBS* I was great til you had to go and make me cry!

Jess, *why did he make me cry!* Okay. *wipes tears* I’m good. What can we expect to see from you next and when?

JL: *blink sniff blink* Geez, Shane, like I needed that guilt today. *wipes eyes*
Next up is book #2 in the Love in the Balance series: Hard to Handle. The story is about Aiden (Shane’s cousin) and Sadie (Crickitt’s BFF) and their attempt at happily-ever-after. And boy, do they deserve it. 🙂

I’m so excited for that! Loved, loved, loved those two. I’m sure their story will keep me flipping pages too. Thanks for being here Jess and Shane.

And remember!! If you leave a comment, you are automatically entered to win an ebook or hard copy of Tempting the Billionaire. 2 books to be given away 🙂

And what’s better than free books?

SA: *clears throat* *Wiggles his tie*

Me: *gives him a smirk and a sideways glance* You’re close, pal. But we’re talking Free BOOKS, here. 😉

Leave the man some comments 🙂

  1. Hi Melinda, I'm honored…I think… *wink* The book is kind of "edible" – I've heard lots of people bring up the diner, the picnic, the cookies… Hope you like it!
