Brain Traffic

Ever had a day when you can’t write a word because your brain is as busy as a twenty-lane highway?

I’m having one of those days today, but it’s actually a good thing.  I’d rather have traffic than empty streets anyday.

But…sometimes my brain goes into overdrive and plot twists and new conflicts arise out of every nook and cranny…like today…and I’m not the kind of writer that can purge it through my fingertips immediately.

The ideas have to stew around in there for a while so that I can be sure I want to use them.

Now..I have been known to lapse into zombie state often. I’m a writer…it’s what we do. But it’s worse on the days when I’m in high-gear. Example…it is 6:25 p.m. and I have not even thought about dinner.

But I like these days because plot problems get figured out and plot holes get filled and my characters suddenly have enough conflict to keep them busy instead of standing around twiddling their thumbs.

Granted, I probably won’t get a wink of sleep tonight because my brain doesn’t have an OFF switch. but that’s okay…

Not all of a writer’s work is done with pen and paper.

What do you do when the brain is in overdrive? Write it out or let it stew?

Oh…And here’s some music for your evening…
